Mary Pat Klein is an expert and acclaimed yarn craftsperson. Whether it is knitting, crocheting or latching rugs, her work has delighted people for years. Mary Pat started knitting at the age of seven. She was taught by her mother but comes from a family of knitters including both grandmothers as well as two great aunts. Her first project was a wavy scarf and from there she has seen her knit goods on television, in print ads and on Broadway. When Mary Pat was working at the Utah Shakespeare Festival she would barter custom made sweaters with the hair and wig designer for hair cuts. Her earlier commercial work includes a pair of knit lips in magazine ads for Certs Blizzard Mints. The tag line was “A new mint so cool your mouth may need mittens”. Other commercial work has been for Bell Atlantic among others. Her creations have been made for The Today Show, Guiding Light and various television shows. Mary Pat’s knit and crocheted garments have been seen on Broadway in the productions of Frozen, View From a Bridge, Present Laughter, Brighton Beach Memoirs and soon to be seen on the lead character in Mrs. Doubtfire. She has worked closely with Tony Award winning designers William Ivey Long and Jane Greenwood along with Tracy Christensen, Christopher Orem, David Kaley and others. She has custom crafted blankets, sweaters, leg warmers, hats, throw pillows and a variety of items.
